Manuscripts, on paper, of three lists of parishoners of St. Martin-in-the-Fields who were to be charged a subsidiary parish assessment for the purpose of rebuilding the steeple and tower of the parish church. The lists contain names of parishoners and total proposed tax assessment, organized by geographical area, and have been annotated in some cases with the payment or nonpayment histories of the persons listed. 1) "Whithart Yard and Drurie Lane for rebuilding the Steeple 1663" lists over 170 residents of the area around London's theaters, including John Lacy, Richard Bayly, Captain Richard Ryder, and the Earl of Anglesey; 2) "Portugallstreete southside Haymarkett St. James Feilds Pall-mall and St. Jameses for rebulding the Steeple of 1663" lists over 290 individuals in that neighborhood, including Edmund Waller, Thomas Stanley, Sir Edward Brett, Thomas Sydenham, and the Earl of Lincoln; 3) "High Streete Parte of the Lower division for rebuilding the Steeple 1663" lists well over 100 residents of the Spring Garden neighborhood between Charing Cross and Whitehall, including Lady Hatton, Sir Thomas Clarges, Sir George Penruddock, Sir Charles Cotterell, Sir John Denham, the Earls of Chesterfield and Mulgrave, and the Duke of Buckingham.
